We stayed at Devon's Den in September and it was the best short holiday we have had. The Den we stayed in had everything we needed! We cooked outside and enjoyed the stars and peaceful sounds of the stream. We met our neighbors and the children played running around the beautiful land… Jo was fantastic at helping us during our stay and we can't recommend this place highly enoughNadia
The grounds are idyllic, beautiful and so peaceful, our grandchildren (12 and 14 year olds) and dogs loved it. In fact we loved the whole experience so much that when we got home, we booked to return again. If you are looking to switch off and de-stress Devon Dens is the absolutely perfect place to go to. Thank you Jo and Ben, you have succeeded in providing the most amazingly peaceful retreat imaginableTracey
Fantastic place to retreat to and spend uninterrupted time with family. Loved it.Ruth
Thank you Jo for the lovely stay, the five of us and the dog had so much fun! The stream was a wonderful place to explore and the wilderness around us made for a perfect setting. We BBQ'd all but one meal over the five nights....I was in my element! We made special memories and will definitely be back againBrad
A friend and I had the most amazing time in this beautiful cabin! The setting is perfect and the babbling brook and birdsong is the best soundtrack ever...Lots of blues guitar on the porch and by the fire! Will definitely return! Highly recommend this beautiful placePaul
I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Our stay was so much more than we could have hoped for. Our only regret is we didn't book for longer but we will definitely be back.Nicola
This place is spot on if you are looking for a genuine eco getaway. They are the real deal, passionate about the environment, even down to all the timber being sourced within a 15 mile radius. Every little design detail is perfect too, and the setting could not be better. The stars at night were awesomely bright too. Heaven.Kim
Just back from the most incredible nights stay in a Devon Den! Cannot recommend this place enough. If you want a total escape with complete rest and relaxation, then this is a must for you! First class, hand crafted little piece of heaven nestled in the Devon countryside.....it was so hard to leave!Tiffany
We had a perfect weekend tucked away from the rest of civilisation. We loved it so much we're coming back next month for another three days! You've thought of everything to make a stay as comfortable as possible and it was completely delightful; a lovely way to spend our anniversary.Sally
A stunning getaway in a beautifully handcrafted cabin. Everything has been thought about, down to the bunch of dried herbs in case you fancy making your glamping experience a gourmet one. The hot shower was too good to leave. We had a fantastic night off-grid and we are definitely coming back!Amanda
Had a lovely peaceful night away. Could have stayed indefinitely. Everything was thought about and the woodburner was so warm and kept us toasty all night. The cabin is beautiful, the work put in is amazing. A wonderful place right on our doorstep that felt like the only place on earth.David
Devon Dens is a private eco-hideaway set in two acres of woodland in the quiet, unspoilt
countryside of West Devon. The site is owned by Jo Henderson and Ben Ranson, founders of
Barrel Top Wagons who make remarkable timber cabins from sustainable local wood.
The eco-friendly ethos runs through both businesses, and our off-grid cabins are run very much with an intention for guests to enjoy a sustainable holiday. Solar provides power, toilets are dry with natural water filtration systems, all waste is composted and Freedom hives and a wildlife pond are just two examples of the measures taken to encourage biodiversity. We want nothing to detract from your authentic nature retreat.
We're keen as mustard to introduce you to the delights on offer in the area. Lovely local produce can be ordered in advance - breakfast, barbecue or afternoon tea hampers - and in summer, our kitchen garden provides home grown goodies whenever possible. From feasting with loved ones to forest bathing or wild swimming on Dartmoor, a stay in our Devon timber cabins will offer the perfect opportunity to tune out of the noise and news. We can arrange an on-site massage or there's the wood fired sauna to enjoy, before relaxing in one of the hammocks or curling up with one of the many books in front of the wood burner.
With no WiFi or phone signal, this is the perfect place to stop still, breathe deeply, and reconnect. With nature, with loved ones and WITH YOURSELF.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions the sauna is not in use and massages are unavailable at present - hopefully these will be available from the end of the year.
This stunning new timber cabin sleeps up to six with everything you need for a stress free, off-grid break. The veranda with sundowner chairs is just the spot for that evening glass of cider, listening to the sounds of the woods. The Den is powered by the sun, with radiators and a wood burner for comfort and heat. It is the perfect eco cabin in Devon for families and friends to gather and feast with your own outdoor space.

We are going through an incredible time – of change, of different rules, guidelines and perhaps as we move forward, the respect owed to nature, the environment and to a simpler life will be abundant. We truly hope so. For our own cabins here in Devon, we are adhering to government guidelines regarding Covid and our cancellation policy is as follows:
The Covid strategy we have put in place for our cabins aims to offer assurance and keep everyone safe – guests, us, our surrounding neighbours and community. This is not exhaustive and many of the measures were already being done. If you have any questions about covid-19 or any other aspect of staying with us in our Devon timber cabins, please get in touch.
